The Plan
The existing kitchen partitions were removed to create a generous peninsula with seating, opening the space to the adjacent dining and living areas and establishing a more fluid, communal layout. Subtle shifts in the ceiling plane were used to define the distinct functions within the open plan while integrating much-needed lighting throughout.
New engineered natural oak flooring was installed across the apartment, lending a contemporary warmth to the interiors. The flooring wraps seamlessly up and around the kitchen peninsula, visually tying the open kitchen to the surrounding living spaces. A restrained palette of predominantly white finishes, punctuated by black accents, reinforces a bright, airy atmosphere while allowing material transitions and spatial gestures to take center stage.
Sustainability
Sustainability strategies focused on reducing energy and water use while supporting a healthy indoor environment. All plumbing fixtures were upgraded to high-efficiency models, lighting was replaced with energy-efficient LED fixtures, and appliances were updated to modern, high-performance units. Materials and finishes were carefully selected to protect indoor air quality, including zero-VOC paints and low-formaldehyde plywood and cabinetry.
