Founder & Principal

Themis Haralabides is the founder of reBuild Workshop, where he has led the transformation of more than 50 historic New York City properties into contemporary, high-performance homes.

Today, he leads a multidisciplinary team of architects, designers, and builders dedicated to delivering exceptional residential spaces that honor their historic context while ensuring enduring comfort and resilience. He is one of New York City’s foremost experts in Passive House standards, one of the most rigorous energy-efficiency protocols in the world. By integrating design rigor with hands-on craftsmanship, he ensures every project meets the highest standards of innovation and sustainability.

Before founding reBuild Workshop, Themis was a Senior Designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), where he played a pivotal role in shaping landmark public projects such as the Moynihan Train Hall in New York City, Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport, and the Denver Union Station Multi-Modal Hub. Immersed in the complexity of these global icons, he realized that a single, streamlined process—integrated from start to finish—is essential for project success. He established reBuild Workshop with the belief that the efficiencies of an architect-led, integrated design-build approach can unlock meaningful change at scale, by renewing New York’s storied residential landscape and transforming it into healthier, more resilient homes.

Themis is a registered architect in New York, a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and a LEED® Accredited Professional. He holds a professional degree in Architectural Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His work has received widespread recognition in leading publications, including The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Dwell, The Architectural Review, and Architect Magazine.
