NYC ROWHOUSE RETROFIT INVENTORY

The data behind our NYC High-Performance Rowhouse Inventory is available to researchers, journalists, policymakers and others interested in understanding the adoption of high-performance retrofits across the city.

What you would be getting

Worth knowing before you ask. The inventory is a floor, not a census; it records what sources disclose, and it is uneven, in ways that may matter if you intend to analyze it.

  • Coverage is thickest where firms publish their work and thinnest where they do not. Absence from the dataset is not evidence that nothing was built.

  • Most rows record a project built to Passive House standards but not independently verified. Every row carries its verification status; keep it attached to the record.

  • Only some projects carry a completion year, and those that do are weighted towards the firms that sent us their own dated lists. A time series drawn from this reflects who answered an email as much as what was built.

  • Some projects have a street address and some have only a neighborhood, depending on what the source published and what the contributor agreed to.

  • Measured performance data is sparse to absent. Treat the certification fields as claims about design intent, not as evidence of how a building performs.

Ask for it

We reply within a week with the file and a short use agreement. If your request touches projects whose contributors asked to be consulted first, it takes longer and we will say so.
